The purpose of the Consortium is to facilitate effective and efficient collaboration and resource sharing among university and institutional libraries in Uganda in order to strengthen the library services provided to the students, staff and other patronage of the institutions.
CUUL is a registered non-profit organisation established to plan and manage projects and activities collaboratively, which provides the member library communities with efficient and effective access to library and information resources.
To strengthen CUUL's capacity to deliver services to members
To build the capacity and effectiveness of CUUL's membership
To advocate for the vital role of libraries in education, research and innovation in Uganda.

The CUUL/EIFL SPIDER II Project involving six participating institutions in Uganda is , additionally for one event, including eight other CUUL institutions: Bugema University, Nkumba University, Ndejje University, Kampala International University, Mountain of the Moon University and Muni University under the theme " Open Access Policy Development in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania to make more digital content available".
Open approaches to scholarly communication are changing the way research and learning are done and there are profound implications for universities and research institutions.
CUUL Annual Genreal meeting took place on 1 and 2nd Feb 2018 at Makerere University Business School.Subsequently a new executive committee was elected.
